I adopted my first blog in 2003 when I discovered Xanga. I had never been good at keeping up with a journal, and blogging was a fun platform to write about what was going on in my life and interact with my friends. About a year later during my freshman year of college, “The Facebook” rolled out to my university, and I became instantly engulfed the world of social media.
At various times I have been an avid user of social media platforms like MySpace, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and the like. Although the world is shifting towards being more connected online, something about my social media use always made me feel disconnected.
In September 2017, in an effort to be more attentive, connected, and present in my life, I decided to quit social media. Still wanting a place to write and reflect, I decided to start this blog, hearkening back to my days of using Xanga when I took the time to write about things that were important to me. I use this forum to post about topics that interest me, ranging from smart watches to the paranormal, and my only real goal is to get back in the habit of thinking and writing without the constraints or distraction of social media.
Outside of this blog, my passions include wellness, vegan cooking, advocacy, animal rights, and scary movies. Professionally I’m a therapist and a government relations liaison, and I enjoy working in the fields of addiction treatment, trauma and mental health, and social justice.
